Flat white, made with EIGHTY20 from 19 Coffee and Tea

This morning I’ve been catching up on a few office jobs and social media after a busy weekend. This is always a great opportunity to sit down and enjoy a coffee (or three, but who’s counting). This morning I opted for a ‘flat white’ made with one of my favorite blends EIGHTY20. Named after the percentage of beans it includes (80% Arabica, 20% Robusta) it offers a certain ‘kick’ you don’t get from 100% Arabica coffees. In recent years, Robusta beans seem to have fallen by the wayside, with an ever growing trend for 100% Arabica single origin coffees. Personally, I favour a little Robusta in my cup, it cuts through milky drinks well and reminds you what you are drinking…. Coffee! Robusta beans have a lower sugar content than Arabica, meaning a little more bitterness hence it works so well with milk which is already sweet. In addition Robusta has a higher caffeine content meaning if, like me, you’re not really a morning person, it’s going to make the perfect addition to your morning routine. ‘What’s the moral of this story?’ I hear you ask, well, everyone’s taste is different. If you like a little Robusta, drink it, it might not be trendy, but it tastes great.
